How House AI works

House AI turns one photo of a real room, exterior or garden into a photorealistic redesign in about 30 seconds. You upload the space as it is, choose a room type and a style, and get back the same room (same walls, same windows) furnished and finished differently.

A real living room photo redesigned by House AI, press play. Written steps and a full transcript follow.

The six steps

  1. 1. Photograph the space as it is

Take one landscape photo of the room, facade or garden from a corner, with the lights on and the whole space in frame. It does not need tidying, House AI can clear furniture for you. Blurry or very dark photos are the main cause of weak results.

  2. 2. Upload it and pick the space type

Open House AI on iOS, Android or the web and upload the photo. Choose what you are looking at (living room, kitchen, bedroom, facade, garden) so the redesign uses furniture and materials that belong in that space.

  3. 3. Choose a style

Pick from 35+ styles such as Japandi, Scandinavian, Mid-century or Industrial, or upload a reference image and let style transfer match its palette and materials instead.

  4. 4. Generate

The redesign comes back in about 30 seconds. Your walls, windows and proportions stay exactly where they are, only the furnishing and finishes change, so what you see is your actual room.

  5. 5. Refine one thing at a time

If the layout is right but one piece is wrong, use furniture replace to swap only that object. Wall and floor tools change a single surface without touching anything else.

  6. 6. Download or share

Export the finished image at full resolution. Paid plans remove the watermark; the free tier gives you one web generation and three app generations a day.

Video transcript

The clip opens on an empty living room photographed from the doorway, bare floorboards, a large window on the left, no furniture. That single photo is the entire input. House AI processes it and the same room reappears furnished: a sofa set against the right-hand wall, a rug sized to the floor, artwork hung at the correct height, and lighting that matches the daylight already coming through the window. The camera position, the window, the ceiling line and the room's proportions are unchanged throughout, only what fills the room is different. The second half repeats the process on a house exterior, where the siding, roofing and front planting change while the building's shape stays put.
